The heavyweight title was won multiple times. Johnson was able to transform his popularity in the ring into a successful career as a film actor as well, appearing on The Mummy Returns and Tooth Fairy. Other projects later included his role in the HBO series Ballers prominent parts for The Fast & Furious franchise and the Jumanji sequels and a character voice actor role in Maui in Moana, the Disney film Moana. Peter Maivia, the maternal grandfather of Johnson's mother Ata gained fame within the wrestling world in the 60s and 70s. Johnson was a young traveler with his family and saw his father wrestle in the wrestling ring. Johnson was a football player throughout his high school years and soon he was awarded full scholarships to the University of Miami where he did well. In the same year, he earned his Master of General Studies in physiology and criminology.
